Can anyone share their TISS interview experience?

Overall mixed experience. No current affair. Much emphasis on why HRM ? Some cross questioning even from extempore during interview.

Q1. Tell me abrief about yourself, your background, etc in 1 min

Ans: Told about home town, graduation, work ex and hobbies.

Q2. Have you ever faced a situation in workplace where you needed to stretch yourself?

Ans: Told about change in nature of work when shifted organization and one more example from current work.

Q3. What was your motivation behind choosing mechanical engineering?

Ans: Told about my interest then(2015)

Q4. Why do you want to study HRM and why tiss?

Ans: Told about my interest in dealing with people, unique curriculum of tiss and CSR work.

Q5. HR is the most thankless job, then why are you gonna to be in that?

Ans: Told that if I am happy with my work then reward and recognization is not a huge difference maker.

Q6. What is laminar flow and whats it's application in real life?

Ans: Explained and gave example of chemical flow in piping. He interrupted in between and told to explain to normal non-technical people. I was able to explain.

Q7. What are your roles and responsibilities at current work?

Ans: Told about paint project and a brief responsibilities.

Q8. Have you ever handled conflict situation at work place?

Ans: Gave an example of same and how I handled it and consequences of same.

Q9. What is F=ma and it's application?

Ans:It's 2nd law of Newton. Gave example of firing of bullet and hitting of ball.

Q10. You have worked for so long and good at technical then why do you want to change the domain why not ME or MS?

Ans: Again told about interest and CSR work for society. He countered that can't you do this with your current position (again tried to convince but wasn't satisfied fully).

Q11. What are the qualities that make people to trust?

Ans: Commitment, intentions and genuineness.

Q12. Have you read any book related to HR?

Ans: Told not specifically HR but about leadership book and important of human touch. Also told about labour codes, various committes, etc.

Q13. What is statutory committees and icc?

Ans: Answered.

Q14. What is mental harassment?

Ans: Wasn't able ro recall the definition but gave 3 4 examples.

Q15. What was your role in employee engagement?(mentioned in daf )

Ans: Told and counter question what is it required. Told that if it's not in regular practice than in order to aware people and encourage them to reveal their aspirations and growth plans.

Q16. What are the qualities required in a boxer(I mentioned in DAF)?

Ans: 1st told consistency and a brief elaborat. But she interrupted and told she didn't want explanation just name qualities. I continued mental toughness, hard work, combination (Dedication, perseverance and patience).

Q17. Are mental harrassment and mental touness realated?

Ans: Not directly.

Q18. What is mental toughness?

Ans: Ability to take mental stress.
