I applied for a job. They told me you have successfully completed your first interview and we will schedule HR assessment next week. What is HR assessment and what they are going to ask me in that?

Making a bad hire can be very costly to the employer! Often a manager will make a quick decision because the position needs to be filled, only to find the employee is wrong for the job/team and has to be let go. So, much more time is consumed.

HR encompasses many facets which include (not limited to), background checks, assessing initial applications/resumes which come in for various openings, and getting a “sense” of the applicant.

A really good HR rep has met with the staff which has the opening and has a solid sense of their needs, particularly as far as fit goes. You can find a great candidate (as far as the resume reads), however, once the applicant comes in for the interview, it is clear the match is fragile.

As to what the HR rep will ask you is dependent on the needs of the position and the people you would be working with/around.

Just prepare to answer questions honestly and know that it is alright to simply say “I don’t know.” Unless you are dipping your toes in this career for the first time, you most likely have the right answers. Just come in with the right attitude.
